Pete
Kornowski, realized in his early twenties
singing and songwriting were among his many talents. He
met up with Joe Cheslock when taking a job
at a local music store where Cheslock
worked. They proceeded to spend some of their evenings
sharing musical ideas. It wasn't long
until Joes roommate, Josh Peterson, was
persuaded to join on bass. Rounding out a four piece
arrangement, Cheslock invited co-worker, Zack Dey to fill in behind the drums.
Recreational sessions eventually
turned into rehearsals as they fine tuned live
versions of songs Kornowski had written years earlier. After
little debate, the band settled on the name Mollies Way, the
street where their initial meetings took place.
Opportunity came in 2008, when the band was offered a
slot opening the Brown County Fair in DePere WI.
Rehearsals focused on building a repertoire of songs
strengthened the group, and sparked new ideas. More local
gigs followed as the group established its straightforward rock & roll sound. In March
of 2009, Mollies Way released a self produced LP,
'The Salt and
the Season', a
combination of songs crafted by the group, and reinterpreted
versions of Kornowski originals.
More opportunities
followed, with several return visits to Green Bays' popular
IQ's,
Bayfest (2010), and three consecutive appearances at Green Bays 4th
of July festival in 2009, 10 & 11. Mollies Way was also the
first live band to take the stage at
House of Valdar, a Green Bay live
music venue.
In the
twilight of 2009, original drummer Zach Dey departed from
Mollies Way. Planning not to miss a beat, Mollies Way quickly
discovered Candy Dax, a local drummer with the enthusiasm
needed to remain on the move. Candy successfully inspired the
group to expand it's reach, helping to land gigs in
neighboring states, and booking a September 2010
west coast tour
that included a performance at the Wisky a Go Go in West Hollywood, CA.
The tour pushed the band to complete
The
Great Deceiver, a
second self produced release.
Late 2010 included a move from Candy Dax to Adam Cain behind the
drums, and in 2011, Bryan Cain entered on bass after the exit of
Josh Peterson. The Cains talents
received a warm welcome as the band continued to move forward.
Most recently, Mollies Way is
preparing songs for a third release, in the hopes to continue
having new opportunities to play.
